Training

Human Resources have a key position in Sonatrach's strategy either in the elaboration or the implementation.

Sonatrach makes a priority their development, their training and improving their qualification. Near 55% of have been involved in a training in 2009, that is a 7% increase compared with 2008. The budget dedicated to training nears 10 million dollars increasing by over 20% compared with the year before.

Training objectives:

  • Develop managerial competence;
  • Prepare take-over for key positions
  • Train specialists in the basic professions (drilling, reservoir, engineering);
  • Impulse HSE culture and develop competence in industrial security;
  • Professionalise executives in the human resources, finance, juridical and audit professions…
  • Develop specialization and expertise in the fields of finance, oil economy, oil taxation and project management;
  • Generalise the induction system to all newly hired executives

Training and upgrading employers is an essential component of Sonatrach's strategy.

In this connection, the refreshment courses and specialization of employees are undertaken by the three Sonatrach training institutions: IAP, CPE and Naftogaz.

The means of this university (IAP) and the two institutes are currently consolidated to bring them up to international standards.

The Company improvement Centre (CPE)

The CPE is involved in the following fields: management technologies and techniques, management, languages, Trainers' betterment, Finance and juridical, computer and information systems and HSE.

Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP):

The IAP is based in Boumerdes. It is shared by Sonatrach 82%, Statoil Hydro 10%, Naftec 4% and Naftal 4%, and provides operational training on international standard in the energy and mines fields, mainly in: hydrocarbon upstream, hydrocarbon transportation, hydrocarbon downstream, oil economy, management, HSE, environment engineering, Finance, himan resources, company communication…

IAP has 3 branches based in:

  • Boumerdes, for training meant to specialized engineers and Masters of Science in the scientific and technical fields of the oil and gas, mines and electricity chain.
  • Skikda and Oran, for training meant to specialized technicians and engineers in oil techniques.

 

Training Institute Naftogaz:

The Centre for Oil and Gas techniques development Naftogaz is based in Hassi Messaoud. It is main missions and activities are:

  • Training specialized technicians and operational agents;

  • Refreshment and betterment of company's executives;

  • Aid and consultation, applied research
